GoTo Line From Citrix Adds New Conferencing Solution

January 17, 2017

Deploying video conferencing technology used to be a very complicated and expensive proposition, and more often than not, it was limited to organizations with deep pockets. However, developments in information and communication technologies now make it possible for even a home business to have a full-featured system in place. But large enterprises need solutions that can leverage the video conferencing systems they have in place and bring their teams across wide geographical locations for no hassle meetings that can deliver instant collaboration. Citrix Systems looks to do that by adding a new video conferencing solution to its GoTo product portfolio with GoToConference.

According to Citrix, GoToConference brings together in-room hardware with GoToMeeting video conferencing with an out-of-the-box single solution that allows teams to conduct impromptu and scheduled meetings from the conference room instantly.

This capability is more important than ever, because 20 to 25 percent of the workforce in the U.S. is now teleworking with regular frequency. This means teams are distributed across different time zones and locations at any given time, which makes bringing them together easily with a video collaboration system a valuable asset.

Chris Battles, vice president and general manager, Citrix Systems, Inc, said. “As an established leader in the collaborative communication space, we’ve always been committed to providing our customers with a meeting experience they love – and with GoToConference, we’ve reinvented the way teams collaborate. Employees can now meet with coworkers, clients and partners near and far using the GoToMeeting Web conferencing tool they know and love, combined with supporting hardware that together ensure meetings are painless and productive.”

In developing this technology, Citrix said it wanted to eliminate many of the frustrations organizations face in setting up, joining and managing meetings with a “conferencing in a box” solution for all-in-one video conferencing. It can bring up to 10 people in a conference room, and all they have to do is enter a meeting ID from the GoToConference home screen to initiate a meeting in a room that has been enabled with GoToConference. Teams outside of the conference room can join remotely from any location on smartphones, tablets and PCs using the GoToMeeting Web, desktop or mobile app to begin the collaboration.

The all in one package includes a Revolabs UC 500 USB audio device, 1080p HD Logitech C930e webcam, ASUS Chromebox, a wireless keyboard and mouse, and an annual GoToConference subscription. All of the devices and applications have been configured to work together out of the box.
