In the modern day educational scenario, students in a virtual classroom are spread across the globe. To succeed in this atmosphere, the educator needs to provide a collaborative, interactive, and mobile learning experience that constantly evolves, and keeps everyone engaged like never before.

Helping them with this task, Blackboard (News - Alert) Inc has updated its Web conferencing platform with the release of Blackboard Collaborate 12. Blackboard Collaborate offers improved combinations for learning management systems (LMS), user experience improvements that make the system easier to use and more accessible, and plans to add support for mobile access with the new version.

Blackboard Collaborate offers a complete learning platform created specifically for education. To provide an effective learning experience with the help of online, blended, and mobile learning, it is assisting numerous higher education, K-12, professional, corporate, and government organizations all over the world. It will help companies open up all-new aspects of real time, or anytime, learning to engage more students and improve outcomes, the company stated in a press release.

“Technology should make education simpler and more accessible, and that's the focus of this new release," said Maurice Heiblum, president of Blackboard Collaborate. "We are continually focused on bringing innovation that helps users interact more easily, whether it's online, through an LMS or on a mobile device.”

Recently, the company released Blackboard ConnectTxt, a two-way mass notification platform. Blackboard ConnectTxt helps customers  send text messages and e-mails to a broad audience, with the help of a powerful inbound messaging engine, and get replies through text as well. Blackboard ConnectTxt already assists in excess of 500 customers around the world, which includes more than half of all colleges and universities in the United Kingdom.
