Avnet Technology Solutions and Polycom Enter into a Distribution Agreement for U.S. and Canada

Avnet Technology Solutions (News - Alert) and Polycom, Inc. have entered into a distribution agreement for the U.S. and Canada. Under this agreement, Avnet will offer value-added reseller (VAR) partners with a comprehensive selection of Polycom (News - Alert) RealPresence video and voice solutions. With Avnet’s help, partners can boost the growth of their UC businesses by targeting high-growth vertical markets where these solutions are in high demand, such as energy, finance, government, healthcare and retail.

According to a press release, the new agreement will allow Avnet partners leverage Polycom’s video and voice solutions across various verticals to help their customers cut costs; enhance collaboration; boost operational efficiency and productivity; educate and train employees; and enhance security for video collaboration. These solutions can be delivered as on-premise, hosted and cloud deployments allowing partners to offer clients solutions according to their needs.

“Polycom complements Avnet’s solutions-focused market approach and enhances our capabilities in the unified communications and video collaboration market,” said Gavin Miller, vice president of marketing, solutions and sales acceleration, Avnet Technology Solutions, Americas. “Avnet’s partners can combine Polycom’s open standards-based solutions with offerings from other industry-leading manufacturers in our portfolio, such as HP, IBM and Microsoft (News - Alert), to develop complete unified communications solutions.”

With Avnet’s help, partners can develop specialized solutions capabilities in high-growth markets through its SolutionsPath vertical practices focused on the energy, finance, government, healthcare and retail markets. Partners can also increase their data center expertise in technology specialization areas related to cloud computing, mobility, networking, security, storage, and virtualization.
