Midwich Adds Atlona's Cloud-Based Conferencing Solution
The enterprise collaboration market is growing at a robust pace, and according to MarketsandMarkets it is set to grow to $70.61 billion in 2019 from the $47.30 billion it generated in 2014. The growth in the market is leading service providers, distributors and hardware manufacturers to form partnerships and better reach these customers. Midwich, a trade-only distributor of technology solutions, just entered into such a partnership with Atlona to provide its AT-UHD-HDVS-300-KIT soft codec conferencing system.
Atlona provides AV and IT distribution and connectivity solutions that enable system designers, integrators, consultants, and installers worldwide to simplify installation, minimize maintenance and maximize the flexibility of automated control solutions. As video communications, mobility, and conferencing have become one in the same in today's workforce, the company has developed a two-piece cloud-based 4K collaboration system.
The two-piece kit is made up of the AT-UHD-HDVS-300-TX, which is the conferencing hub, video switch, and HDBaseT transmitter. The AT-UHD-HDVS-300-RX receives the HDBaseT signal and delivers an HDMI signal to the display.
Naina Tailor, General Sales manager, Technical Sales, Midwich, said, “With this system attendees can walk into a meeting space, plug in their laptop, and start a cloud-based conference. The system is so simple that they don’t notice the complexity to extend AV and USB signals or turn on/off the projectors and screens. All they see is one cable to connect it all.”
The kit comes with the Atlona Management System (AMS) to effectively manage events and systems with remote access for product configuration, troubleshooting, and system updates. According to the company, it is the first HDBaseT-equipped collaboration system with 4K AV switching, USB and HDMI extension, and system control for PC-based conferencing using Skype for Business, WebEx, and GoToMeeting cloud services.
Another first is the ability to use a single category cable connection between a conferencing hub and a 4K display together with a USB-equipped videoconferencing camera. This will allow administrators and users to quickly set up a conferencing system without having to deal with complex hardware configurations and compatibility issues. In terms of compatibility, the AT-UHD-HDVS-300-KIT works with sources and displays up to 4K/UHD at 60 Hz with 4:2:0 chroma subsampling.
The soft codec conferencing system includes: integration with PCs, USB webcams and USB mics for presentations and teleconferences; bi-directional USB 2.0 extension between conference table and display; automatic display control using Consumer Electronics Control (CEC), IP, and RS-232; and automatic input selection using video detection technology.
Conferencing and collaboration has now become standard in many business environments, therefore simplifying the process of bringing participants together has become a key feature when organizations are looking for solutions. The AT-UHD-HDVS-300-KIT gets rid of the clutter and system complexity in huddle spaces and meeting rooms with just two devices and a single category cable.
