Blackboard Collaborate offers technology for an online collaboration geared towards education that provides a platform that simplifies the process of web conferencing, mobile collaboration, instant messaging, and voice authoring. The seamless integration process the technology applies allows educators to collaborate no matter where they are to provide their students, institutions, and each other with the latest information.

Recently, the company updated its online collaboration and Web conferencing system with an Android version, which offers virtual whiteboarding, instant messaging, message boards, podcasting, and other applications.

This application is geared for teaching not only at learning institutions but corporate, professional, and governmental organizations around the world also use the Blackboard Collaborate learning and collaboration platform to deliver the best learning experience through online, blended, and mobile learning. By helping create virtual classrooms, offices, and meeting spaces it opens more learning opportunities for students at any level with group or individual settings.

The new mobile on Android version allows participants to collaborate in conferences, answer survey questions, join breakout rooms, participate in chat, use two-way audio, and raise their hands. Presentations can also be viewed with annotations, images, shared applications, and shared desktops, and participants can record sessions and they can be viewed on mobile devices through the learning management systems (LMS) in different formats.

The new updated version is now available in North America, and the international market will see a release later this year. The application is available for free from the Play Store, but it has to be enabled from an organization that has a hosted enterprise license of version 12 or later.

The Collaborate App simplifies interactive instructions and meetings to educate anyone at any time from the chosen LMS to improve learning, outcomes, and retention. The new web conferencing improvements include:

  •          Support for JAWS 13 and 14 with Java Access Bridge 2.0.3
