TMCnet Conferencing Week in Review
The utilization of video conferencing in business has ramped up this past week, and TMCnet is here with all the updates.
Tuberculosis patients got a big boost from video this week when the World Health Organization started looking at a new product from Vivid Solutions that will allow TB patients to take their meds and be witnessed doing so via video conferencing. Such patients must currently be watched in a hospital or doctor’s office, a burden for those in rural areas.
Bank customers also got some good news when Bank of America announced it would be integrating video displays allowing customers to interact with tellers when banks are closed. The service would access call centers in Florida and Delaware.
It was also a good week for the hearing-impaired with the announcement of a high-definition video-conferencing app from FuzeBox. The company is already selling the device to schools and other organizations, and is now making the product more widely available.
Back on the business side, resellers got some good news for their video business with the unveiling of the Web-based FastQuote tool for Avaya Scopia solutions. The tool comes from Catalyst Telecom, a division of ScanSource Inc. and value-added distributor of voice, video and data convergence solutions.
Lastly, conferencing-delivery company ReadyTalk has unveiled a video conferencing component to its line of offerings.
"Our goal to make it easier for customers to conduct remote meetings, interview potential employees and host small training sessions," said Paul Carollo, product strategist at ReadyTalk.
According to research from Wainhouse, nearly three fourths of those who use video conferencing have reported an improved sense of connectedness between participants. Even for those who don’t like being able to see how other people react to what they do and say, more and more companies are understanding the value that video conferencing can bring to them.
