ShoreTel Introduces Latest Versions of Apple iPad ShoreTel Mobility 6 and ShoreTel Conferencing

ShoreTel recently announced the latest release of the Apple (News - Alert) iPad, ShoreTel Mobility 6 and ShoreTel Conferencing - two solutions which have been developed to transform the iPad into an effective and robust business communications tool. 

In a statement, ShoreTel (News - Alert) Senior Director of Product Marketing Bernard Gutnick, said that, “People have always wanted to collaborate, but it has just been difficult. They want to be able to collaborate using any device. I believe in choice, and I want to be able to choose the device I have at the moment. People do not live at their desks anymore.”

ShoreTel Mobility 6, which builds on the business value of a BYOD program, effectively converts the iPad into a robust enterprise UC. The solution offers a native iPad user interface, which provides users with multiple options for communicating with each other. Mobility 6 enables the use of the iPad as an enterprise desk phone capable of supporting extension dial, transfer of calls, placing callers on hold, desk transfers and retrieval of voicemail.

The new release also makes it easy for users to place and receive calls using their desk phone caller id, and exchange instant messages, in addition to creating multi-party calls by simply dragging names from enterprise directories over a touchscreen. While ShoreTel Mobility 6 supports the iPad, iPad Mini, iPhone (News - Alert), Android, and BlackBerry devices, its ideal deployment is on the iPad.

ShoreTel Conferencing on the other hand supports conferencing and application sharing in addition to providing collaboration functions. Users of the iPad will now be able to easily share presentations and pictures via conferencing. Among other functions, the solution supports desktop sharing, and sharing from a user’s library, as well as recording of conferences and muting. The ShoreTel Conferencing solution at present is not available to Android (News - Alert) users. ShoreTel Mobility 6 and ShoreTel Conferencing can be downloaded free from the Apple App Store and are available for Apple iPad, iPad mini, iPhone and iPod touch users.
