Polycom SoundStation Connect Enhances Audio Quality for Conferences On the Go

Polycom (News - Alert), a specialist in communications and collaboration solutions, unveiled the Polycom SoundStation Connect, an audio conference solution that allows users to benefit from optimum audio conferencing technology from any location.

Solutions provided by the company are powered by the Polycom RealPresence Platform, a comprehensive software infrastructure and rich APIs that can interoperate with several communication, business, mobile and cloud applications and devices. This ensures secure face-to-face video collaboration in any environment.

Jim Kruger (News - Alert), senior vice president of product and solutions marketing at Polycom, said, “Polycom SoundStation Connect lets customers take the legendary Polycom SoundStation audio conferencing experience anywhere they want to have voice or video meeting on their computer.”

The SoundStation Connect can be plugged directly into any laptop or desktop USB port so that users of soft-phone apps like Polycom RealPresence Desktop 2.0, Microsoft (News - Alert) Lync or IBM Sametime can experience HD-quality audio conferencing features during small-group meetings anywhere.

“SoundStation Connect is ideal for groups of people in small to midsize rooms such as salespeople and customers in a huddle room, patients and doctors in an office, or creative designers and ad experts in a brainstorm area. Polycom’s best-in-class HD audio technology allows all of the meeting participants on the call to hear and be heard, making calls more productive,” said Kruger.

Officials enumerated the features of SoundStation Connect which, enables clear conversations as the Polycom Voice technology reduces background noise, echo, and feedback. Also the microphone pickup capability covers more than seven feet in diameter.

The solution ensures optimum interoperability as the plug-and-play solution requires no software driver, and the device runs on USB power.  It is also capatable with any UC soft-phone app that runs on computers supporting USB audio. Besides, the ultra-simple UI featuring volume up, down and mute is easy to adjust, while the compact design makes it suitable or use while traveling.

In related company news, Polycom was recently recognized as a Smart Work Excellence Company by Korea’s Ministry of Public Administration and Security (MOPAS) and National Information Society Agency (NIA).
