Strategic Products and Services (SPS) recently made a strategic acquisition with their purchase of Providea (News - Alert) Conferencing, LLC now finalized. Providea, a provider of telepresence technology, visual collaboration and managed services, will help SPS become a full-service systems integrator and managed services company, excelling in unified communications, contact centers and cloud-based solutions.

SPS, a multi-vendor systems integrator, is certified with Microsoft, Cisco (News - Alert) and many other manufacturers, allowing it to provide integrated unified communications solutions. Now that it’s acquired Providea, the combined company has a strategic portfolio of both managed and hosted solutions, as well as end-to-end UC, to help customers with every aspect of their unified communications needs.

Furthermore, Providea has recently revealed the Providea Gateway (News - Alert) Service, a cloud-based service aimed to help foster collaboration without the need for capital outlay or complex integration. Providea will continue offering all its solutions and services to its customers, now as a part of SPS and with all that SPS can offer.

"We anticipate significant developments related to collaboration, presence, video, instant messaging and cloud-based services as these technologies transition from independent applications to critical components of an enterprise's overall UC strategy," says John Poole, president and CEO of Strategic Products and Services. "This acquisition strengthens SPS' current UC portfolio and augments our managed and cloud-based services to support the evolving needs of our customers."

SPS made a smart choice in acquiring Providea, and both will surely benefit greatly as a result. With their combined experience and technology, they can offer full solutions and support, helping their customers even more, as well as seeing a nice increase in profits, one would imagine. The two companies will remain ever dedicated to providing the best hosted services and cloud-based offerings they can, and together, those are quite good.
