RHUB Communications’ (News - Alert) TurboMeeting video and Web conferencing appliances are going to streamline the operations of Community Assistance Network (CAN), a Baltimore-based not-for-profit that provides shelter, food, daycare and job training to those in need.

CAN asserted that its mission is to work in partnership with the community to develop, strengthen and support programs that reduce vulnerability among the poor, as well as promote growth, stability and self-sufficiency in individuals.

But recently, the network has been affected by budget cuts and can afford to support even fewer programs for helping the homeless in Baltimore. The program has been forced to save dollars so that it can focus funds on the people.

With RHUB’s TurboMeeting video and Web conferencing appliances, CAN will be able to save precious dollars on meeting trips and provide remote support to employees, volunteers and community partners.

The TurboMeeting appliances reportedly reflect RHUB’s continued focus on creating and maintaining an outstanding user experience and equally impressive system performance. RHUB’s Web conferencing and remote support appliances come packed with upgraded features such as remote printing, LDAP integration for enterprise models only, video broadcast and flash-based view-only client with a faster and reliable view-only experience that does not require any download.

The appliances offer users full control over their Web conferencing technology and its cross platform compliancy allows those from all different platforms such as PC, Mac, Linux, Unix and even iPhone (News - Alert)/iPad to join meetings. TurboMeeting can be used for Web conferencing, webinars, remote support and remote access, and participants need not download nor install any related software.

In Baltimore, CAN operates the three largest homeless shelters: the Hannah More Emergency Shelter, the Eastside Family Emergency Shelter and the Men’s Westside Emergency Shelter.

The organization serves an average of 1,000 emergency food packages to families in need every month.
