Juniper Networks Participates in Vidyo's Series D Financing

Vidyo (News - Alert) provides natural, universally available, affordable multipoint video conferencing, while VidyoRouter architecture provides low latency, high definition video conferencing over general data networks and the Internet via off-the-shelf devices. Vidyo’s architecture considerably enhances video quality to the network and to the abilities of individual endpoint devices to provide telepresence-quality experiences.

The company recently announced that Juniper Networks (News - Alert), a provider of network innovation, joined as a strategic investor through its Junos Innovation Fund. Other companies collaborating with Vidyo’s series D financing include investor QuestMark Partners and other existing investors Menlo Ventures (News - Alert), Rho Ventures, Star Ventures, and Four Rivers Group.

The investment from Juniper Networks allows Vidyo to enhance its go-to-market activities and combine its video conferencing products with Juniper's various solutions. Taking the industry forward with its paradigm-shifting platform, Vidyo is introducing new and advanced improvements to the video communications and collaboration market. Vidyo provides telepresence-quality conferencing to more than 1850 companies, healthcare, education, and government customers, the company stated in a press release.

“Juniper Networks' strategic investment in Vidyo is a solid endorsement of our vision and a recognition of how rapidly the videoconferencing market is expected to grow in the near future; Infonetics Research states the market will reach a cumulative $22 billion over the next 5 years," said Ofer Shapiro (News - Alert), Vidyo's co-founder and CEO. "We see Juniper as a kindred spirit, itself a pioneer in its industry. Their investment validates the approach we have taken to successfully create new video conferencing markets.”

Recently, TMC’s (News - Alert) Raju Shanbhag reported that Vidyo’s conferencing solutions have met the DoD Joint Interoperability Test Command’s (JITC) requirements, including related Defense Switch Network (DSN) and IPV6 interoperability requirements. Federal, state and local government bodies rely on Vidyo for high quality, accessible and secure video conferencing. In addition, Vidyo provides HD video conferencing with mobile, desktop and room-based endpoints over IP networks.
