Avistar Demos Virtual Desktop Videoconferencing Experience at Lotusphere

Avistar (News - Alert) Communications Corporation, specializing in unified visual communications solutions, announced that it is demonstrating a fully comprehensive virtual desktop videoconferencing experience designed for IBM (News - Alert) Sametime at Lotusphere.

In a release Mike Dignen, SVP Sales, Avistar, said, “With these solutions, Avistar solves a very important need for UC users. Gartner estimates that there are 3 million to 4 million virtual desktops in production today and predicts that there will be up to 4.5 million by the end of 2012, with that number growing rapidly to 50 million by 2014. That means that more and more UC users will require solutions that run within these VDI environments.”

The ubiquitous nature of unified communications or UC solutions and the fast adoption of virtual desktop infrastructures by businesses has made it imperative for the implementation of a UC solution within a VDI environment, said officials.

In this context Avistar has delivered the Avistar C3 (News - Alert) Unified and Avistar C3 Integrator solutions that are optimized to offer an immersive HD videoconferencing experience that is VDI-enabled. It is also capable of offering a high quality, continuous-presence multiparty virtual videoconferencing experience.

Officials explained that users will be able to access a VDI-enabled desktop videoconferencing experience and a virtualized multiparty videoconferencing platform. This enhances the provision of UC and collaboration software, including IBM Sametime in a virtualized environment.

“The Avistar solution set delivers high quality at an affordable price, while also supporting a fully virtualized videoconferencing infrastructure. This allows IT executives to meet the UC demands of their business units, while expanding their virtualization strategies. This, in turn, delivers a more economical and secure IT operating environment back to their business units,” added Dignen.

Avistar offers videoconferencing capabilities to technology partners and end users. Citrix, IBM, LifeSize (News - Alert), and Logitech use Avistar’s modular software technology to power their unified communications solutions. Avistar solutions feature flexibility and innovative software-only, fully virtualized and bandwidth managed technology that optimizes video communications between individual employees and teams in an organization.

Avistar fully virtualized personal videoconferencing solution, Avistar C3 Integrator allows users to experience a feature-rich videoconferencing experience regardless of the virtualized endpoint. Avistar’s suite of VDI enabled solutions offers optimized performance over the network without overburdening server resources which typically occurs with non-VDI enabled communications solutions.
