Embarcadero's Delphi IDE Used to Build Skype for Windows

Microsoft (News - Alert) recently made the biggest and most expensive acquisition in their history when they bought Skype for a whopping $8.5 billion. The development team at Delphi, the most popular integrated development environment from Embarcadero Technologies, is the IDE that built Skype (News - Alert) for Windows, and with this acquisition, the new Delphi app has paid off.

Skype for Windows is also the most popular version of the tool and has millions of users worldwide. The Delphi IDE from Embarcadero is an environment that allows developers to develop native windows applications, Skype included, at speeds 5 times faster than normal, while also using fewer resources than any other development solution. Enhanced application quality and quicker completion time is the end result of using Delphi’s development environment, what with its speed coding ability, and its RAD frameworks that reduce the overall amount of coding itself for any developmental task. And that’s not all; this super functionality ranges from desktop tools, to the web and to servers as well.

In a release, CEO of Embarcadero Technologies, Wayne Williams said, “The size of this acquisition speaks volumes about the value of the applications that are built in Delphi. Delphi is a key technology that enables developers to create very modern, high-quality applications faster than ever before, and these applications are changing the way we work and live.”

Delphi does not only focus on Skype in its developmental labs, but has thousands of other highly popular applications as well. This wide range includes Web apps, ISV-packaged apps, business-critical apps and many more. This has made Delphi the first choice for several developers due to it being the quickest and simplest way to build applications, and offering latest RAD design and function innovations. Some of the other popular applications that have been built by Delphi include Macromedia Captivate, Audio Grabber, QuickBooks Point Of Sale, MediaMonkey, Yahoo! Go for TV, Webroot Spy Sweeper and Sirius32.

Delphi has earned the name of being the fastest mode of delivering super-fast and highly rich Windows based applications. The environment lowers coding time by a considerable margin, with faster creation of a full visual RAD IDE, two-way, along with component based developments.
