Planting the Seeds of the Future: Silicon Valley Forum Announces 2nd Annual AgTech Week

Silicon Valley Forum today announced its second annual AgTech Week "The Seeds of Our Future: AgTech and the Connected World". Beginning with an Immersion Program and bus tour from April 3rd - 5th, the program invites attendees to take an up-close look at innovations in agriculture technology-right from the farms, classrooms, and businesses that are fostering innovation and change. Site visits include Indie Bio, Driscoll's, UC Davis, Western Growers, and the Robert Mondavi Institute for Food and Wine, as well as leading AgTech investors and early adopters. Program attendees will hear presentations on drones and UAV, smart farms, food traceability, robotics in farming, and more.

The full-day conference on April 6th takes the lessons from the Program and goes global: conference attendees will hear presentations and panels on AgTech innovations from around the world, featuring voices and points of view from countries in Latin America, Europe, Asia, and New Zealand, as well as North America. The conference will be held at Plug and Play Tech Center in Sunnyvale, CA (News - Alert).

"We're excited to be building this event for a second year," said executive director Denyse Cardozo. "AgTech affects a future we all share, and we're looking forward to taking a deeper dive into the disruptive innovations that are coming together to feed the world-by focusing on connected global growth."

"Yamaha (News - Alert) Motor Ventures & Laboratory Silicon Valley is excited to be the premier partner for 'The Seeds of Our Future' with Silicon Valley Forum," said George Kellerman, COO and General Partner. "We're excited to be supporting a global event that brings tgether growers and startups from around the world, and we're equally excited to see how we can collaborate with those growers and startups to develop the future of precision agriculture. Technology and innovation are coming to agriculture faster than ever before, and we look forward to being part of that growing ecosystem."

"The Silicon Valley Forum's "Seeds of our Future" program will help advance the dialogue around innovation and sustainability in the AgTech sector, and we are pleased to support this effort," said Josh Hofheimer, partner with Sidley Austin LLP and leader of the firm's global Agribusiness and Food Technology group. "Through our work with emerging companies to develop and deploy new technologies for improved productivity and environmental sustainability, we are actively engaged in such conversations and look forward to the open exchange of ideas this program provides."
