Foundation for Chiropractic Progress Points to Role of Specialists in Integrating Care and Providing Better Patient Outcomes in the Medical Home

CARMICHAEL, Calif. --(Business Wire)--

The Foundation for Chiropractic Progress (F4CP), a not-for-profit organization dedicated to educating the public about the value of chiropractic care, announces that its spokesperson, Gerard Clum, D.C., will participate in a webinar entitled: "The Role of Specialty Practices: How Specialists Are Integrating Care and Providing Better Patient Outcomes Members," February 20, 2013, 2 p.m. ET, hosted by Dorland Health, a leading integrated media publisher in thehealthcare business information industry. The 90-minute program discusses the specialty medical home model.

"As healthcare professionals gain a better understanding of emerging outcomes-based models, such as Patient-Centered Healthcare Homes and Accountable Care Organizations, it becomes evident that specialty practices - such as chiropractic - will play a vital role," says Anne Llewellyn, RN-BC, MS, BHSA, CCM (News - Alert), CRRN, editor in chief, Dorland Health. "This webinar will provide positive examples and education around the process of transitioning a specialty practice into a patient-centered healthcare home."

The F4CP educates appropriate audiences about the valuable role of chiropractors within emerging healthcare models. The F4CP presents at premier healthcare events, publishes white papers and establishes partnerships with leading healthcare organizations. As a result of its 2011 paper, "The Role of Chiropractic Care in the Patient-Centered Medical Home," URAC, a national accreditation organization, initiated a joint pilot program that provides certification to chiropractors interested in patient-centered healthcare home participation.

Serving as a key contributor to the URAC pilot and relative F4CP initiatives, Dr. Clum states, "The specialty medical home model provides doctors of chiropractic with an opportunity to provide cost-effective, quality and efficient care to patients."

Joining Dr. Clum as a presenter will be: Linda D. Bosserman, MD, FACP, president, Wilshire Oncology; Cindy Gunn, PT, MPH, project manager, Harris Health System Rehabilitation Services and Vivian Dunlop PT, MS, administrative director, Rehabilitation Services and Child Life, Harris Health System.
