Infocast's B2BWebinars.net to Host Gas Electric Coordination in the Northeast Webinar on January 17, 2013

Woodland Hills, CA, Jan 08, 2013 (PRWeb.com via COMTEX) -- Throughout the U.S. electric and gas industries, the phenomenon of a very rapidly growing gas-fired generation fleet - both to supply load growth and to replace retiring coal plants and take advantage of shale-driven natural gas abundance - has brought to a head various gas capacity and business-practice interaction issues that have long been apparent.

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission's regional roundtables in August, along with the Commission's follow-up inquiries, are evidence of the level of concern, as are the host of studies being undertaken in various regional markets. A major center of concern in this regard is the Northeast, where ISO New England has been aggressively analyzing, planning, and responding to these gas-electric interaction issues for almost a decade.

Infocast is pleased to host an important interactive webinar and discussion among industry experts who have been at the center of these issues. Kevin Kirby of ISO New England, Don Santa, President of the Interstate Natural Gas Association of America, and Rick Smead of Navigant Consulting will address the concerns of system planners, generators themselves, the interstate pipelines who supply them, and the producers who provide the natural gas in the first place.

Those respected industry players will share their viewpoints as to what it might take for the two industries to work seamlessly in using the nation's natural gas abundance to expand the availability of clean, reliable electricity. Questions such as "What new pipeline capacity is needed and who pays for it, and how " and "Once there is enough capacity, how are the needs of generators balanced with those of other gas customers " will be explored in depth.

On the agenda are also remarks around experiences to date, the actions being taken over the next couple of years, and the processes underway to improve market signals that should encourage infrastructure investment (be it pipeline, oil, or storage). The webinar will provide an understanding of alternative approaches to regulated infrastructure investment.
