Health briefs: People with disabilities being surveyed

Dec 10, 2012 (The News-Sentinel (Fort Wayne - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Wireless use by people with disabilities Rehabilitation Engineering Research Center for Wireless Technologies (Wireless RERC) is conducting two surveys on how people with disabilities use wireless technology. "User Needs" is a general survey on the use and usability of wireless technologies, and "Emergency Communications" focuses on contacting emergency response services (fire, rescue and ambulance) during a personal emergency and receiving alerts during public emergencies, like severe weather, forest fires, and so on.

Rights of people with disabilities On Tuesday, the U.S. Senate rejected the United Nations Convention of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD). Sixty-one senators voted in favor of CRPD, just six votes short of the two-thirds majority required to adopt a treaty. If this issue is important to you, you may want to contact your senator with your opinion.

Dogs and people with disabilities The School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of California, Davis, is gathering information to learn more about he role of dogs in the lives of people with disabilities. Non-dog owners can also participate in the survey.
