Point B Offers Financial Framework for Bundled Payments

Nov 06, 2012 (Close-Up Media via COMTEX) -- Point B, a management consulting firm, announced its latest Healthcare webinar, "An Analytic Framework for Bundled Payments," which takes place on November 15, at 12 p.m. PT.

According to a release, the webinar leverages the recently launched Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) "Bundled Payment Initiative" as a framework for considering simulation to best account for a variety of external and internal risk factors that impact a provider's financial performance.

With this new initiative, CMS has led the way developing a limited, standardized set of bundle definitions with fixed reimbursement. If this trend holds, provider organizations will be faced with weighing the risk and benefits of standard payment bundles, and will need to decide how they will fare under emerging bundled payment reimbursement models.

To assist with this exercise, Point B has developed a financial simulation model, which is an iterative framework that helps providers stress test a range of sensitive variables and develop a probability of different financial outcomes under this new initiative.
