Burst and the Sporting News Put Youth Sports in the Spotlight
NEW YORK, NY and BOSTON, MA, Nov 05, 2012 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) --
Burst, the mobile solution designed to give families an easier way
to capture and share videos and photos taken with their smartphone,
today announced the launch of Burst Sports, a whole new way to
capture those fleeting youth sports moments that parents don't want
to miss. With the latest version of its app, Burst users will have
access to unique sports-specific tags that facilitate better search
and filtering of their videos on the web and a new "highlight"
feature where special effects such as spotlight, zoom and slow-motion
can be applied to a mobile video with just one tap. In addition, with
Burst's Bubbles feature, youth sports teams can create a group to
collaborate in capturing videos and photos from the same game. This
media is automatically collected and delivered to team parents in
real-time. Burst users can choose to share content privately to
groups or individuals via email and SMS or socially on Facebook and
other media platforms.
"At Burst, we feel the greatest moments in sports are happening in
our neighborhoods," said Bryant McBride, CEO of Burst. "With our new
Bubbles, Special Effects and Tag features, parents and communities
will experience youth sports in a whole new way. Making it simple,
fun and collaborative, Burst will help parents, coaches and fans
capture and share those fleeting moments that happen every day in
games around the world."
Available on iPhone and Android, videos and photos taken with the
Burst app are automatically uploaded to the cloud over Wi-Fi and
cellular networks where they are organized for the family on the web
at www.burst.com. Burst users can send unlimited photos and videos at
one time to multiple recipients who do not need to have the app or a
Burst account to receive and view them. The mobile app smartly
auto-titles content taken during scheduled events through seamless
integration with mobile calendars.
Burst Teams with SportingNews.com to Launch "Burst OUT"
In addition
to adding sports features, Burst has partnered with Sporting News to
give young athletes a chance to be in the Major League Spotlight.
Sporting News, the iconic sports brand, today announced a partnership
and investment in this mobile video solution, which will also provide
families the opportunity to spotlight their young all-stars on a
national stage.
Launched as a dedicated section on the SportingNews.com website at
www.sportingnews.com/burstout, the new "Burst OUT" program provides
an entirely new and unique way to unlock the value of youth sports
video. Fans can simply submit videos of their favorite youth sports
moments directly from the Burst app to SportingNews.com, where the
great moments in youth sports that occur on a weekly basis are
highlighted and honored. Submitted videos may be selected as a "Video
of the Week" in fun, relevant categories like: play of the day, best
effort and best spirit. Visitors to the website can vote for their
favorite videos each week to choose a winner who will be featured in
an exclusive editorial video interview on SportingNews.com.
"With the proliferation of youth sports video captured on mobile
phones, we're thrilled to invest in Burst and partner with them to
highlight the great moments happening in neighborhoods everywhere,"
said Jeff Price, President and Publisher at Sporting News. "Our goal
is to showcase the best youth sports has to offer and provide a
vehicle to honor those moments on a national stage."
